On Wednesday evening, November 19th 2009, The assistant director general, Paul Lamoureux and the director of buildings, Colin O’Shea were invited to attend the 20th Gala of the Association Québécoise pour la Maîtrise de l’Énergie (AQME) held at the Hyatt in Montréal.
The new board office located on 15 Katimavik was nominated as one of the finalists for innovative new-building projects. The office space was developed with the principles of sustainable construction and energy reduction measures. The school board worked with the criteria set out by L.E.E.D (Leading by Environmental & Energy Design) which also include heating and air conditioning by geothermal development, along with maximizing the grant applications available through Hydro Québec. Once commissioning has been completed, the school board is forecasting a 53% energy reduction compared to its old facilities on 170 rue Principale. The director of buildings’ passion for innovation and energy reduction was integral in the development of this turn key project.
