Public Speaking Contest - November 2007 - Concours d'art oratoire
The competition was just fantastic. The quality of the speeches and the speakers was outstanding and our judges had their work cut out for them. The judges were Mr. Mitch Lariviere, our commissioner for Ward 1, and Ms. Donna Kalanchuk, a retired teacher who has had many years of judging our school competitions (and she is quite a taskmaster!!). She and Mr. Lariviere were very impressed with the students' performances. The students represented the schools very well; they were an excellent audience and supported each other. Everyone survived the trip north and were able to leave around 11:30 with lunches and movies in hand!
La compétion fut extraordinaire! La qualité remarquable des discours et des orateurs était exceptionnelle et rendît la tâche difficile aux juges. Les juges assignés furent Mr. Mitch Larivière, notre commissaire pour la circonscription #1 et Mlle Donna Kalanchuk, une enseignante à la retraite avec plusieurs années d’expériences pour ce qui est de juger nos compétitions scolaires. Ils étaient bien impressionnés de la performance des étudiants. Les étudiants représentèrent très bien leurs écoles; ils furent un excellent auditoire et se sont bien épaulés entre eux. Tous ont bien survécu au voyage à Val d’Or et on put repartir vers 11h30 avec films et goûter en main pour la route!
