The following information is provided to inform you about the current status of our school libraries.

Mission Statement

Please note, this mission statement is currently under review by the WQSB Educational Policies Committee -

The mission of all Western Quebec School Board libraries is to enrich the lives of all students, faculty and staff members as centres for:

• Accessing education-related resources specific to the Province of Quebec's Educational curriculum and popular reading materials;
• Encouraging life-long learning and reading for information and pleasure;
• Developing information literacy skills;
• Accessing information in a variety of print and electronic formats;
• Providing an information-rich research and learning environment;
• Providing equitable access to all library/media resources and services. [unofficial - under review]

Gifts and Donations

Gifts and donations are greatly appreciated and serve as an important adjunct to our school library acquisition programs.
You may choose to honor someone special by making a donation in celebration of a birthday, graduation, or other special occasion. A memorial gift is also a thoughtful way to pay tribute to someone you love.

If you wish to make a financial donation, you may select a favorite subject area, such as English, computer science, history, etc… Undecided? Why not allow the librarian make a selection on your behalf. The librarian knows which collections require enhancement. You may donate a book, video, cassette, CD-ROM, etc…

At your request, a commemorative bookplate will be placed in the book(s) or donated item(s), and an acknowledgement of your gift will be sent to the respective individual or family.
Each school library reserves the right to decide the disposition of all gifts and donations, which become the property of that library. Please contact the school for complete details prior to making a contribution. When making a financial donation, remember to ask for a tax-deductible receipt. Library Policies

The Collection Development Policy is currently being reviewed by the WQSB Educational Policies Committee. This policy encompasses many aspects of library operations, such as copyright, selection criteria, etc.
