Enrolment Process

The Western Québec School Board provides English language education to eligible students in the Outaouais, Pontiac and Abitibi‐Témiscamingue regions. Committed to academic excellence and the development of life‐long learners, the Western Québec School Board provides quality education in 19 elementary schools, 12 high schools and 5 adult education and vocational training centres. Our schools offer many programmes, including Pre‐Kindergarten, Kindergarten, French Immersion, Work Skills training, Homework Assistance and Extracurricular activities.

Parents of students new to the school system may register their child/children at their local school. For further information regarding registration, please contact your school. To determine your local school, call 819‐684‐2336 ext. 1155 or toll free at 1‐800‐363‐9111.

To register your child for Kindergarten he or she must be 5 years of age on or before September 30th, 2011.

Required documents for registration:

  • Child’s original long form birth certificate (bearing parents’ names)
  • Certificate of eligibility of a parent, accompanied by proof of Canadian citizenship (birth certificate) of that parent, or the certificate of eligibility of a sibling accompanied by proof of Canadian citizenship of the parent who rendered the sibling eligible. If you are unsure, bring proof of Canadian citizenship for both parents
  • Québec health card for the child
  • Québec proof of residency (ex: lease/house deed AND one of the following: tax bill/hydro/cable/phone bill)
  • Child’s last report card (if he/she attended a school last year)
