About us

Financial Resources

The finance department deals with all financial matters pertaining to the Board, schools, centres, and daycares. It also oversees all matters dealing with school taxes.

Our goal is to distribute all the allocated funds from the ministry and school taxes in a fair and equitable manner based on the socio-economic map, following section 275 of Education Act.

Financial Statements

By law, the school board shall appoint an external auditor to report the financial transactions of the school board. You will find current and previous financial statements on the Document Section

Socio-Economic Map

The Socio-Economic map is a ranking of all schools based on regional disparities such as low income and mother's without a high school diploma.Adobe pdf Readeropens in new window

Budget

For the first time this year, the Québec government must include in its financial reporting the results of all Québec educational and health institutions.  Consequently, all boards must now report their finances according to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

This will, on paper, suggest that our board, as most if not all others in the province, is in a deficit position.  This is exclusively because of the new requirements to report as liabilities all accumulated staff vacation and sick days, and to account for the depreciation and amortization of school board buildings and other capital assets.

What is most important to note is that, although our budget shows a deficit because of new accounting rules, our board has adopted a budget that is fully balanced between the money we will receive and the money we will spend to continue to deliver quality education and services to our students and communities.  In other words, we will continue to operate with a balanced operational and capital budget.

For more information on the specifics of our board’s 2009-2010 budget and on the changes made to accounting principles, please follow the links below:
