Flooding Situation

The Western Quebec School Board is carefully monitoring the flooding situation.

Our transportation department and transporters are monitoring routes and will be working to provide up-to-date information regarding any necessary re-routing or transportation cancellations.

At this time with the exception of Maniwaki Woodland Elementary School, which is relocating to Sacre-Coeur, all our schools remain open.

WQSB recognizes the challenges and stress of the current situation. We understand that there may be disruptions in student attendance.

Please be assured that we will provide the support needed to ensure minimal impact on student learning.

We will be following advice and direction from the affected municipalities.

Please monitor information sources in your local communities and radio stations for updates.

Rescheduling of the May 13th/14th Pow Wow at PETES

Based on the school closures and the unprecedented flooding in the region, the decision was made on Monday evening to postpone the Pow Wow scheduled for PETES this weekend.

This was a big decision and one that was not taken lightly. However, we felt that it would have been inappropriate to proceed with the Pow Wow while so many families and communities were facing such extreme hardship.

The Pow Wow steering committee has met and has decided to reschedule a smaller Pow Wow on Friday, June 2nd at PETES (2 Rue Millar) from 9:30 to 2:30.

If any schools, parents or community members would like to attend, please contact Principal David McFall for information (dmcfall@wqsb.qc.ca).
